Publication roadmap

From research directions to publishable papers.

The paper program covers four research directions: Japan 2040, physical systems, autonomous organizations and AI-guided longevity science. AI safety is a Foundation track supporting all four.

Society & Systems · Infrastructure

Japan 2040: AI as infrastructure for a labor-constrained economy

Establish the macro problem and estimate where AI can offset labor-capacity decline.

Main question

To what extent can AI-enabled productivity gains offset the economic and service-capacity effects of Japan's shrinking labor force through 2040?

Method

Sector-level labor-gap modeling, AI leverage matrix, scenarios, and a proposed AI Labor Offset Ratio.

Planned contribution

A measurable framework connecting demography, productivity, AI deployment, and national capacity.

Potential venues

Research Policy, Management Science, Information Systems Research, Technovation, or a Reasoning Frontier working paper first.

RF-JP-002

Society & Systems · Physical AI

Physical AI as Japan's industrial response to structural labor scarcity

Identify the physical tasks where AI and robotics can create measurable operating capacity.

Main question

Which Japanese economic activities are technically and economically suitable for physical-AI deployment between 2026 and 2040?

Method

Task decomposition, deployability scoring, technical architecture mapping, and robot ROI analysis.

Planned contribution

The Physical AI Deployability Index for ranking task families by feasibility, value, and risk.

Potential venues

RSS, ICRA, IROS, IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, Advanced Robotics, or JSAI.

RF-JP-003

Society & Systems · Autonomous organizations

The autonomous SME: measuring the productivity potential of AI agents in Japan

Study how AI agents may extend the operating capacity of small and medium-sized firms.

Main question

Can AI agents materially increase the effective operating capacity of Japanese SMEs without proportional headcount growth?

Method

SME task taxonomy, agent suitability score, controlled experiments or survey data, and productivity modeling.

Planned contribution

An autonomous-SME maturity model and AI Agent Productivity Multiplier.

Potential venues

Information Systems Research, Management Science, Research Policy, Small Business Economics, or INFORMS Journal on Data Science.

RF-LIFE-001

Science · Cellular aging

AI-guided cellular rejuvenation: a global map of senescence, reprogramming, and longevity biotechnology

Open a disciplined life-sciences track rooted in public literature, public datasets, and safety-aware computational methods.

Main question

Which cellular-aging intervention classes are most ready for AI acceleration, and where are the gaps between computational promise and biological validation?

Method

Field recon, dataset mapping, institution mapping, method taxonomy, and risk/safety framework.

Planned contribution

A research atlas connecting senescence, iPS cell science, partial reprogramming, protein design, AlphaFold-style modeling, and public aging datasets.

Potential venues

Nature Aging perspective, npj Aging, Aging Cell, Frontiers in Aging, Rejuvenation Research, bioRxiv/arXiv working paper.

RF-SAFETY-001

Foundation · AI safety

AI safety measured through evaluation, not assumption

Measure how AI agents behave under controlled safety tests before they are trusted with operational work.

Main question

How can tool-using AI agents be evaluated and controlled so that consequential actions stay within approved limits, and how can that evidence be made reproducible?

Method

Adversarial and prompt-injection evaluation, checks against evaluation gaming, least-privilege agent architectures, independent action monitoring, and traceable safety-case records.

Planned contribution

A reproducible evaluation and control protocol for tool-using agents, published as a dated report with scope, methods, results and limitations.

Potential venues

NeurIPS (Datasets and Benchmarks), ICML, IEEE SaTML, ACM FAccT, the Technical AI Safety Conference (TAIS), or JSAI.

Status

Active research track. No safety claims are made until a dated evaluation report is published.

Principles

Research principles

  1. Separate evidence from hypothesis.
  2. Use public datasets before making claims.
  3. Make methods reproducible.
  4. Quantify uncertainty and failure modes.
  5. Do not present biological speculation as treatment.
  6. Do not present market potential as investment advice.
